Standing in prayer with orality worker Iris

CACTUS -1.

I had a beautiful cactus garden on the house top during my student days at Chennai – then known as Madras. Now for the last couple of years I have some beautifully flowering Cactus  I have this in 4 different colors.  Recently I got another cactus plant from my friend Mrs. Annie Vasanth of Podia village. This cactus is unique as the flowers open early morning   and at 12 noon start to close up in the heat of the sun and fully dry by evening 5 PM.

My thoughts went racing why some of the cactus flowers stays fresh for many many days and even when they dry up they are beautiful and the color does not fade so can be used to paste on cards and write letters by fixing them on leader heads. I compared them to Christians who are always fresh though the heat of persecution keeps blowing full swing like the summer heat at Malkangiri where the inside temperature is 46 degrees. Now even my laptop is hot to touch even though it is past 11 PM. Whereas the Yellow flower cactus is like some Christians who shrivel up during the heat of persecution. The question that comes to you and me is – to which flower do we belong?

As I meditated further God gave me this idea:

C – Christian.

A – Aims.

C – Communicate.

T – Train.

U – Unite.

S – Serve.

We all know that the word Christian was first used at Antioch as recorded in Acts Chap. 11 Verse 26. Then I looked up the qualities / attributes of Christian that are found in the Bible, I found 61 references!!

Every news circular I will mention a few: Purity of heart – Matthew Chap.5 verse 8. Acceptance of persecution recorded in Matt.Chap.11 Verses 11 and 12. Love of enemies Matt.5 verse 44. Hard to follow But Jesus will help us.

On 22 nd of May I went to Bendaguda a Koya tribal village which is 17 km northwest of Malkangiri. All the trees all along have been cut by the government because of the Naxalites / Maoists. I am now doing a research paper on ‘Apathy of the Christian Church to Environment’ for my D Min course and I am praying to Jesus to provide the money to do extensive plantation work through the different people groups in Malakngiri. Naturally being a doctor and the nearest hospital is 17 km away with no proper road or bus service – I had to examine patients and I want you to pray for the following people.

This is the house of Deba Madakami who was attacked by a bear last year and had spinal vertebrae compressed fractures making him an invalid. He believes that Jesus can heal him. Kavitha Madakami is 25 years is almost fully blind. When she accepted Jesus as Savior, she was kicked out of the house from Gowdaguda village, so the People of Bendaguda village is making use of her as a cook helper for the Day care Tuition center. Though blind she is cheerful. Please also pray for 40 year old Rukmani Podiyami suffering from end stage Jaundice. Please pray for more doctors to JOIN the work at Malkangiri Thank you for standing with me in Prayer.

Love and Prayers, Iris.
